Hallelujah! This month Facebook announced that you can now schedule Instagram posts using Facebook Creator Studio! This is going to simplify processes for social media managers around the world.

If you want to start testing this process, here’s what you need to do.

  1. Have a Facebook business page for the brand you’re wanting schedule Instagram posts for
  2. Have an Instagram business account or creator account for your brand. A personal account will not work for this. You can update an Instagram account from a personal to a business in the settings on your Instagram app.
  3. Connect your Instagram account to the corresponding Facebook page. Here’s a link with info on how to do it.

Once you have those actions completed, you can begin using Creator Studio to schedule Instagram posts.

When you go to Creator Studio, you’ll see a Facebook icon and an Instagram icon at the top of the page. You can toggle back and forth between the two to schedule and analyze content from either platform.

Interestingly, you can create and schedule Instagram content and tell it to also post to Facebook, but you cannot do it the other way around. Our advice to you, though, is to post Facebook posts to Facebook and Instagram posts to Instagram.

Cross-posting on both platforms is an outdated technique that is not respectful to your followers. Peoples’ expectations and behavior patterns are different from platform to platform.

Use this new scheduling option to save time in your content creation process, and use that extra time to create unique, quality content for each of your audiences on each platform.
