A Tale Of Amber: What is Spry Teaching You?

All my life I have made it my mission to serve people. I am a firm believer in “what goes around, comes around” and I want to always make sure that when I need it, I have some good karma stored up. (That, and helping others feels pretty darn good).

My karma-planning paid out last December. When I lost my job (that I loved) due to company cutbacks, I found myself feeling lost and trying to nurture and rebuild a severely damaged ego.

Within days, Nicole reached out to me to discuss an opportunity to work for Spry as their new Communications Manager in their brand-new office in Chehalis. Previously, I was an insurance agent. I hadn’t the faintest idea how I would keep up with these Spry Girls. They radiate energy and excitement everywhere they go. All I knew for sure was that I wanted that energy to be part of my daily life.

2-4-6-8 Who Do We Appreciate?

Here we are. Two months later, in a brand-new office, just killing it. Every single day I get to work with women who encourage each other, who cheer each other on and aren’t afraid to challenge one another. I am learning what it truly means to work with a team that is dedicated to the success of everyone involved. It is the most refreshing and uplifting atmosphere I have ever been part of!

Grow Baby, Grow!

Nicole and Lacey are creating a culture that allows anyone fortunate enough to be under their leadership an insurmountable amount of room to grow. I am learning something new every day from some of the greatest teachers in the industry.

My resume would never have fit this job description. Nicole saw something in me that I didn’t even know I possessed. In a short amount of time, I have been trained in QuickBooks and other various administrative processes, blogging (that was easy and fun as I was blessed with the gift of gab), search engine optimization, keyword research, Google Business Listings, and several different state-of-the-art digital marketing software programs.

Years ago, I took a college course in marketing, so I have a general understanding of the art, yes… I said art, of engaging people in a way that feels natural to them in order to promote your product/service. If you had told me back then that I would get to write Facebook and Instagram posts for a living, I would have tossed my “Rachel” hair back and had a good laugh.

If you would have told me that I would be in a rut at 36 years old and not even realize it until an opportunity came along that would make me feel like I was a 19-year-old college kid again… I would have slapped my hand on the knee of my baggy Guess overalls and giggled.

But here I am, learning again, and life is grand.

You’re going places, kid.

Our small, 4-woman team is running like a finely oiled machine. Every move Spry makes these days is calculated and intentional, setting this company and those who are part of it up for success. It is a beautiful thing and I am honored to be part of it!
